Current Nighttime Routine

Hello beauties! Grab a cup of joe cuz this one will take a few to read.
I never cared much about skincare growing up but a few years ago, when I was seriously getting into makeup, I started taking a closer look at the way I care for my skin as well. I consider myself very lucky with my skin – besides it being on the dry side, I’ve always had clear, non acne prone skin. Thank you, genetics!

Favourite Masks

With all this cold weather, my skin is screaming for extra hydration. I don’t have one favourite mask or brand, but below are my go tos.

Origins Drink Up Intensive  – $34.00 from Sephora Canada
– This is an intense moisture mask that you can sleep in. How awesome and easy is that, am I right? I take off my makeup, wash my face as I normally would and instead of moisturizer, I put this mask on and head off to bed. The next morning, I wash it off with warm water, and I’m not kidding when I tell you that your skin will feel ahhhhmazing.

Origins Drink Up – $34.00 from Sephora Canada
– I use this when I need a quick boost of hydration – usually after the gym or a hike. The best thing about this mask is that it only takes 10 minutes.

Sephora Avocado Face Mask – $8.00 from Sephora Canada
– First of all, you can’t beat that price. Sephora has so many different kinds of face masks that do different things, but this avocado one is one of my favourites. The orchid face mask is my other favourite. I like to use this mask in the evening after I take off my makeup. You don’t even need to moisturize after as the residual ingredients left from the mask can just be rubbed in to your face and it is soooo refreshing!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask – $32.50 from Sephora Canada
– I love sleeping masks because the next morning, I wake up with baby soft skin. Laneige is fast becoming one of my favourite products from Sephora and the price is also so reasonable for the quality of product. Your skin will feel more hydrated the minute you put this gel mask on. Long story short, this is bomb.

So those are some of my favourites. I would love to try some drugstore hydration masks as well. Do you have a favourite that you can recommend?

I do have 2 that I like from the drugstore though they aren’t for hydration – L’Oreal makes really good clay masks and my two favourites are the black and red clays. The black charcoal clay mask is to detox and brighten and the red clay mask is to exfoliate and refine pores. Both really good and super affordable. Give them a shot!

Till next time,

Favourite Primers

I am a primer lover. I have friends that don’t use it at all and I look at them like “HOW?!” and “YOU’RE SO DAMN LUCKY!” lol. It’s very rare that I forget to put on primer before my makeup, but at the odd time I do when I’m rushed & I hate it. My makeup feels and looks different. It’s something I can’t really describe but my makeup just does not last during the day without it.
I have (to me) very visible pores on my nose, cheeks & chin. So I like a primer that helps minimize them. I have a few go tos but there is one that I am hooked on. Before I let you in on my not so little secret, here are a couple of my other favourites.  And bonus, they’re both from the drugstore! #win.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer. Ladies, in my opinion, this is just as good as the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer and it is way more affordable. The texture of this primer is like butter. It goes on easily and does its job.
NYX Professional Makeup Pore Filler. This primer is awesome. Same consistency and an awesome alternative to the Benefit Porefessional. I used this primer for years after I found it at the drugstore. I can see my skin smooth out and pores fill when I put this on. It is a must try for sure!
Alright ladies, I haven’t tried many primers, but my all time favourite……drum roll please….. is Farsali Unicorn Essence. This product has many mixed reviews as all products do. Not everyone has the same skin type so of course it will be different on everyone. I first saw this on Instagram (of course) when @farahdhukai was using it non stop on her page. Digging further like the little detective I am, I found out that it was actually her husband Sal Ali, that created this for her. Farsali is a combination of both their names. How freaking sweet is that, am I right?! Sal Ali wanted to create a product for his wife that would work both as skin care and with makeup and he did just that.
When I saw this product, I fell for the hype. I have no problem admitting that. I fell hard for it. I have dry skin so not only is this an amazing primer, it’s super hydrating as well. This is on the pricier side for primers, at $67 CAD from Sephora Canada, it is considered to be a ‘high end’ beauty product. But how I think about it is – I’m getting skincare & primer in one bottle. It’s like a 2 for 1, so that’s okay, right?
With unicorn essence under my makeup – my pores look smaller and my makeup lasts all day. It does exactly what it says it’s going to do from their description on their website. The scent to me is light and refreshing and my skin feels like it took a drink of water after I rub it in. If you’re like me and have dry to normal skin and you’re looking for something that will keep your skin hydrated throughout the day then I would give this product a shot! I’ve been using it for almost a year and I haven’t touched my other primers since.
What are your favourite primers? I would love to hear about what you love about them! Leave me a comment a below.
Till next time,

How Colour Correcting Saves Lives

No joke. It does. At least for me. Years ago, before I discovered colour correctors, I would sit in front of the mirror piling concealer on top of a pimple that I just could not leave alone the night before.

It would be bright red and (TMI) also crusty. No amount of moisturizer and concealer could help it. Fast forward a few years later, Instagram came and beauty influencers started to influence.
